Play Chess for College Credit

Did you know that you can get college credit for playing chess? The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater offers a math class called “The Logic of Chess.” Listed as Mathematics 177, this course offers a study of logic particularly as it is used in the game of chess and, most particularly, in chess strategy. The rules are taught to those who are not already acquainted with the game. According to the syllabus, “Math 177 is unlike other Math courses you might have had trouble with, in that you are very likely to have a lot of fun here!” Hey, if you can get credit in college for playing chess, why not in your homeschool!
