Celebrate World Penguin Day

World Penguin Day coincides with the annual northward migration of penguins. This happens each year on or around April 25th. Penguins do not fly, but walk or waddle. This little guy sure seems happy…

Here are some fun ways in which you can celebrate, too!

Dress in black and white colors, and waddle around like a penguin today.

Draw and color some penguins. Click here for tutorials.

Watch a movie or video about penguins. (Mr. Popper’s Penguins, March of the Penguins, Madagascar, Happy Feet. Also, in the major animated sequence of Disney’s Mary Poppins, Mary and Bert are served by a group of penguin waiters. Afterwards, Bert has an extended dance sequence with them.)

Read a book about penguins. (The children’s book Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard & Florence Atwater tells the story of Mr. Popper and his twelve performing penguins.)

Eat a packaged frozen dinner by Kid Cuisine. (Kid Cuisine uses a penguin named K.C. Penguin as its mascot.)

Go to see some penguins if they have any at your local zoo or aquarium.
