The Dumbing Down of America’s Children

Most homeschoolers have probably heard of John Taylor Gatto, the New York State Public School Teacher of the Year who later became a home education advocate. If you haven’t read either of his books – Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling (144 pages, easy to read) and The Underground History of American Education (412 pages, encyclopedic in scope) – you should! (A brief summary of “The Underground History” can be found here.)

Gatto’s “Underground History” book can be read in its entirety online for FREE at his website:

I’ve just discovered another book, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America, by Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt. The former U.S. Department of Education Senior Policy Adviser exposes how social engineers and behavioral scientists have systematically gone about destroying the intellect of American children. She documents the gradual decline of our once academically successful education system into one devoted to training compliant children to be used by government and industry.

Iserbyt’s “Deliberate Dumbing Down” book is also now available for FREE! An ebook version can be downloaded at:

These powerful books will forever change the way you look at public education.
