Science News for Kids

Science News for Kids (SNK) is an award-winning online publication dedicated to children ages 9-14, their parents, and teachers. SNK offers timely news stories and features written by a staff of professional science journalists and editors, covering all areas of science. SNK was launched in 2003 by the nonprofit organization Society for Science & the Public (SSP) as a youth edition and companion to SSP’s award-winning flagship magazine, Science News. SNK content is selected from Science News, and tailored to be more accessible and interesting for a middle-school audience.

Young people interested in science are encouraged to visit the SNK site regularly to find:
-Timely, interesting news stories and features about all areas of science
-Suggestions for hands-on activities, books, articles, and web resources
-Coverage of the world’s leading math and science competitions for youth
Additional resources and programs for kids

SNK also has a page of resources for parents to help their children use science news, and to learn more about how to compete in SSP educational competitions.

Science News for Kids is supported by grants from corporations and foundations, including the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation, Agilent Technologies, Elmer’s Products, and the Northrop Grumman Foundation.
