Plants of the Bible

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices — mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law — justice, mercy and faithfulness.

We just read Matthew 23:23 in the Bible last night, and having planted mint in our garden, we found out that it grows like a weed and spreads everywhere. Which, knowing this, gives more depth to the biblical text, implying that tithes of mint aren’t worth very much. I’m guessing that dill and cumin would be the same way.
