World Rhino Day

World Rhino Day is on September 22 and celebrates all five species of rhino: Black, White, Indian (greater one-horned), Sumatran and Javan. The word “Rhino” is short for Rhinoceros. The word “rhinoceros” comes from the Greek “rhino” (nose) and “ceros” (horn). Rhinoceroses are large, herbivorous mammals identified by their characteristic horned snouts.
