Thanksgiving Links for Fun and Learning

Here is an assortment of educational pages, activities, and videos to keep the kids occupied while you’re busy with Thanksgiving preparations.

The First Thanksgiving – A page of historical information, poems, recipes, and activities related to this traditional American holiday.

Giving Thanks – Thanksgiving is a good time to help your children reflect on what they are grateful for.

Thanksgiving Coloring Pages – Free, printable Thanksgiving coloring pages are fun for kids.

Plimoth Plantation: Just for Kids – This site makes history fun! Coloring pictures, virtual field trip, interactive Thanksgiving activity, talk like a Pilgrim, read about 17th-century life and learn about what it was like to be a Pilgrim or Indian in the 1600s.

1623 Thanksgiving Proclamation – Although attributed to Governor Bradford, this was most likely created sometime in the 20th century; but it’s fun to recite and it looks great printed on parchment paper, or print it on plain white paper and have the kids decorate it!

Annie’s Thanksgiving Games & Activities – Make faith your focus this Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Word Search – How many words can you make from the letters in the word “Thanksgiving”?

Family-friendly Thanksgiving Films – Some movies with Thanksgiving themes that the whole family can enjoy.

YouTube Playlist: Thanksgiving Videos for Kids – Cartoons, read-aloud books, history, songs, and classics like A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and The Mouse on the Mayflower – 33 videos in all, providing over 3 hours of entertainment!

And finally, here is one of my favorites that’s not included in the above playlist:

This is America Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers (1988)
